Repair
I sit back and look at my inexpert repair work.
At some places, the stitches are awry.
Somewhere, there’s an unwanted fold
Or a telling tear
Put back together by a black thread
Instead of the original mauve.
The zip has been replaced
The seams, sewn back
The tiny cotton strap that had been torn out
Set back in place without symmetry.
But that’s okay.
I have sewn back together the torn pieces of a favourite bag.
If only repairing life was this easy.
